Music Department Home Page

The department has one full time member of staff, Ms Mair Pennington.
The department offers a wide and varied curriculum. The pupils study statutory Music at key stage 3 and in addition to this they have the opportunity to study GCSE music in years 10 and 11.

During years 7 to 9 pupils have 50 minutes of music per week. During this time the pupils are involved in individual, group and full class activities. They also have the opportunity to participate in a number of extra-curricular activities. The key stage assessment takes place at the end of year 9.
From year 10 onwards, GCSE Music is an optional subject and pupils receive three 50 minute lessons per week. There is a large amount of coursework in both these subject areas so pupils need to be able to work independently as well as with small groups.
